While both Scotch whisky and Irish whiskey are distilled alcoholic beverages made from fermented grain mash, they differ in several ways.

Scotch whisky is typically distilled twice and aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels, giving it a distinctive smoky flavour.

Irish whiskey, on the other hand, is usually triple-distilled and tends to have a smoother, lighter flavour profile.

Additionally, Scotch whisky is spelt without an 'e', while Irish whiskey is spelt with an 'e'.
