The Best Espresso Martini Recipes For International Espresso Martini Day on March 15th

Espresso Martini Day is coming up on March 15th and what better way to celebrate than with a delicious, creamy, velvety espresso martini?

In this blog post, we'll be sharing two of our favourite espresso martini recipes that are perfect for any occasion!

First here's a little history on the Classic espresso martini. The original espresso martini was created by Dick Bradsell in the 1980s at the Ritz-Carlton in London and was originally called 'The Vodka Espresso'.

It is said that he created the drink to celebrate his success as a stockbroker however we've also heard the more glamorous story of when a young, future supermodel, sidled up to the bar and asked Dick to make her a cocktail with coffee.

Either way the drink quickly became popular in the United States and has since become one of the most popular cocktails worldwide, though particularly popular in Australia where a hard-partying lifestyle and a coffee culture intersect.

The first espresso martini recipe we're going to show you is the classic. The original mix using only 3 ingredients at equal parts. It's a super easy cocktail showing us all that keeping it simple is usually the best approach.

Here's what you need:

45mL Espresso or cold brew

45mL Vodka

45mL Kahlúa

Coffee beans to garnish

Here's how you do it:

Making an espresso martini is easy if you have all of the ingredients on hand. Start by making a strong espresso, if not possible you can also use store bought cold brew coffee.

Next, combine vodka, Kahlúa and coffee in your shaker over ice. Shake well and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with a few coffee beans and enjoy!
